Remedies for hair growth using essential oils

Hiya everyone this would be the first time ever in my life that I am writing something for my blog. It gives me an immense pleasure to write something for my blog and I am super excited as it would be my first post. Hope you all like it. I am going to share my own oil preparation for hair regrowth and preventing hair fall. I prepared this oil after a lot of research on various essential and carrier oils. These essential oils hold a lot of medicinal and curative properties and to my surprise this preparation did suit my sensitive hair scalp also. I have been using this oil preparation for a month now and it did help me with my hair fall .Earlier because of heavy hair fall my hair type became fine and thin, but now it seems I am getting my hair back as I can see cute little hair strands rising out of my scalp. Sigh :) what a relief!!!

Remedies for hair growth using essential oils
So for all my friends and readers, here goes the secret recipe.Hope it helps and benefits you all!!

All you would need is:

1. Castor oil (4 oz)

2. Jojoba oil (4 oz) or extra virgin olive oil /Sweet Almond oil

3. Lavender essential oil (10 drops)

4. Rosemary essential oil (10 drops)

5. Basil (Tulsi) essential oil (5 drops)

6. Vit E capsule (4 or 5)

Let me also talk about the various benefits offered by these oils.

Castor oil: When it comes to hair growth Castor oil is really good. When you massage with Castor oil it stimulate the hair follicles leading to new and faster hair growth. Also as this oil gets easily absorbed by the scalp, it helps hair follicles to grow additional hair. This hair oil must be used by those having thin hair. Each and every hair strand becomes stronger with the regular application of Castor oil. When you apply Castor oil on to your scalp it protects the scalp and hair from infections that can cause hair loss. It removes the dirt and bacteria that clog the pores that often become the reason behind dandruff and hair fall. This oil will prevent your hair from becoming brittle and will promote healthy hair growth. When your hair is treated with Castor oil regularly, you can get rid of premature greying of hair.

Jojoba Oil: This oil is usually regarded as quite a unique oil, due to its structural resemblance to 'sebum' or oil produced by the sebaceous glands, present in our scalp and skin. This may be the reason why, when applied topically, this oil can regulate the level of sebum production. Excess production of sebum can clog the hair follicles and impede hair growth and jojoba oil can prove quite beneficial in this regard. It helps to stimulate the hair follicles to grow rapidly.

Lavender essential oil: Lavender oil is among the commonly used aromatherapy oils, which is extremely effective in treating the problem of hair loss. Regular usage is helpful in controlling hair fall and improving hair growth. Daily scalp massage with lavender oil will definitely ensure significant hair re-growth in a few months. You can use lavender oil for hair growth and get rid of problems like itchy scalp and dandruff as well.

Rosemary essential oil: The use of this oil on the hair and scalp helps stimulate blood circulation in the scalp and thus promotes healthy hair growth. It is light in texture and therefore, does not clog the pores in the scalp that may retard hair growth. Using this oil can help prevent hair loss by stimulating the hair follicles and preventing premature greying as well. It also helps cure conditions of the scalp like dandruff that can lead to hair fall.

Basil essential oil: Basil oil has stimulant properties and can be applied topically to increase blood flow. The increased blood flow is theorised to help hair growth. By stimulating the hair follicles, many that were not working or working improperly become rejuvenated and start producing healthy hair again.

Vit E capsules: Vitamin E has been shown to help with the growth of hair as well as preventing hair loss. Vit E helps with the growth of capillaries thereby increasing blood circulation and helping in hair growth.

Preparation: Mix the entire quantity of carrier oils (Castor and Jojoba) and then add lavender, rosemary &basil essential oils drop by drop, slit open Vit E capsules and pour it in the above mixture, keep the mixture in bottle and should be preferably be used warm/lukewarm over scalp for best results.

Method of use: Massage every alternate day over scalp and hair for 10-15 Min's before going to bed. Next morning use a warm towel to cover hair for deep penetration and absorption of oil. Wash your hair with an organic or herbal shampoo/cleanser as SLS (sodium laureth sulphate) present in shampoo’s can be the reason for your hair fall. Follow up with an organic/herbal conditioner.

One need to be patient with the application as it is not going to show any immediate effect in few days, but don’t be disheartened you will definitely see results in few months. It’s working for me it might work for you also.

    1. Hey Sapphire~Fantasy we are glad you liked our post!!

      1. Well you can make the mixture in small batches if convenient else it would last for 2 months.
2.The above mentioned essential oils are quite easy to get online and wont cost you much, however these essential oils are very good with hair growth so their's no substitute for them. You can use bay leaf or peppermint essential oil instead of basil oil.
      3. Nopes no side effects,i haven't faced any side effects so far.
4.I use Khadi manufactured shikakai or satritha herbal shampoo quite popular in India. You may get it online, where are you located?
I will try and come up with a post on khadi made products quite underrated but very efficient and effective!!
Hope I answered all your queries!!

    1. Hi Waseem

Well these remedies work well for normal hair fall condition. However for alopecia we would advice you to try bhringraj or mahabhringraj oil and also use hair pack made of powdered amla, bhringraj, curry leaves powder, tulsi, neem, hibiscus, brahmi and liquorice made with fresh curd and some lemon juice on hair once a week. Also if you have bald patches one effective remedy is to apply liquorice powder with some milk on bald pathes. These natural remedies do not have any side effects and are quite
      helpful in some cases.
