Calamine lotion contains Oxides of zinc which can be used as a topical treatment for acne and many other skin ailments.Calamine lotion is usually pink coloured lotion with a smooth texture and is sold under various brands by different names.The popularly known Calamine lotion is Lacto Calamine sold by Piramal Healthcare.Calamine has been used since ages to treat wound and skin disorders.Earlier zinc which is present in the Calamine lotion was used in threads and gauze to tie around the wounds.Zinc oxide present in the Calamine helps to heal wound and minor ailments faster and that's the reason why Calamine is used widely to treat pimples and acne.It is also very effective in treating sunburns.

I have been using calamine from a very long time.My skin is so used to calamine lotion now,i never skip applying calamine on my face daily.So far i have tried two brands of calamine and i love the second one.First one which i used and i am sure every girl must have is Lacto Calamine which is quite nice and is a must have for oily skinned beauties!! But the Calamine lotion or Calak lotion has proved to be my HG Calamine lotion.Calak lotion was introduced to me by a friend and i can't thank her enough for this.It not only helps to clear acne/pimples from my skin in just 2 days but also fades away acne spots quite effectively though it takes time to fade spots but hey all i care is that it does fade spots and that makes me a happy soul!! :))))
I also apply it under my makeup and it hydrate and moisturise my oily skin quite well and i don't feel the need to apply moisturiser.Before going to bed i use calak lotion on my acne/ spots and leave it overnight to see the magic of Calamine,zits are reduced in size and there's no redness.I find calak lotion more effective and my skin responds beautifully to Calak lotion.I never had any allergic reaction,skin irritation or side effect by using calak lotion.
I love Calak lotion and can't do without it, bottles of calak lotion are stocked in my cupboard.It is an important part of my daily skin regime and i would continue using it for years and years to come.

Lacto calamine has proven for me atleast to be one of the best creams i have used till now for the treatment of my sunburns,, Its really effective and m quiet satisfied with the results of lacto,,,, :)

Hi Veroniquexo calamine contains zinc oxide which is great for treating acne and blackheads too,what it does is it dries out your blackheads further making them easier to be popped out using blackhead remover tool or just by scrubbing your face.Just apply calamine lotion as patches on affected areas overnight,it would take some time to show effect.Mix some calamine lotion with your moisturizer and apply it under your makeup,this will not make your complexion pink.

Hi Resmi you can try lacto calamine hydration meant for dry skin,if still your skin feels dry then apply some moisturizer before applying calamine let it dry for 5 mins and then apply calamine,also if you have scars on your face it is important and essential to apply a sunscreen as sun may worsen them gradually.So do apply sunscreen regularly before stepping out in sun.

ReplyDeleteHi i have been using calamine lotion for two months now. In the first month i notived a huge difference and alot of friends commented on how clear my skin looked. But this month the scars and pimples seem to be reappearing.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous I guess the reason is something internal,Because calamine only heals the external wounds but if you say that your pimples are appearing again than may be the problem lies within and its time to visit a dermatologist.

I tried it out of curiosity one night on my pimples (because I know it dries out bug bites so I figured i'd give it a try). aynwho, I was wondering if any type / brand of calamine will work just a effective as the lacto or calak brand? Also, I have very oily, yet dry skin, I breakout easy and I have large pores, and any time I use a moisturizer I break out....would this help me? and can it be mixed with any moisturizer for any time use?
ReplyDeleteYes you can try any brand of calamine it would offer same benefits.For oily and acne prone skin; calamine lotions are the best savior.You can try the aloe hydration variant of Lacto calamine or as a matter of fact any calamine lotion which contains some hydration ingredients.

ReplyDeletegreat for acne . it dries and pops the zit on its own not wise to pop zits because the poison of the white head popped can reproduce back on to the skin. Great for oily skin to dry with out peeling your skin and medicated calamine lotion great for combination skin to re condition your skin. Apply with two ply toilet tree or cotton balls thicker the better let it dry and repeat if you do not like the white film wash with Luke warm water. twice daily for dry oil free skin once a day for dry and combination skin. Do not pop white heads it damages skin cells as well as pushes the infected oils back into the skin cells you can clog up your skin cells and pores and it will cause a filled zit called a boil. you will need the Dr to remove it surgery from your skin it can infect your skin cells and cause bruising and damaging skin marks and boils that can not be cut off called skin tags it can spread like poison ivy. But with poison ivy can be treated but with boils it can not be and it can scar your skin permanently. Boils and skin tags on face and under the eye are caused by popping zits the oils and infection is pushed back into the skin and the skin reforms the zit into a boil the huge pus marks would need to be treated by a Dr not with calamine lotion but using calamime lotion before it gets bad can work for your skin.
